Shadow was the third and final foal to be born in the 2008 season.  He is a bay gelding, born 7/21/2008.  His sire is our stallion Baron and his dam is our mare Dixie.  He was a huge baby and even as the youngest, is bigger than both the other foals now.

Shadow has been taught to lead, stand tied and have his feet trimmed.  He’s also very good in the roundpen.  And during these lessons, he has shown us he has a heart as big as Texas, is strong as an ox, an incredible spirit  and will be a horse that will never “quit” you or give up without a fight.  Even when it was time to be castrated, it took two different attempts because the drugs would not put him down.  Finally the vet gave him 2 1/2 times the normal dose and was barely able to get him done before he was back on his feet and ready to go.    Even now when we are working with him, your not real sure who is training who.  And he is so athletic, it’s usually a pretty good work out for us.

Shadow is probably the best bred horse I have and I hated to geld him.  He also qualifies for the Foundation Foxtrotters Heritage Association and has a v factor of V-116.

I’ve been advised by everyone who has worked with him that he will be the best horse I’ve ever owned and will do anything for his rider.  Like the others, we will work with him on his groundwork this year and start his undersaddle training when he is a 3 year old in 2011.
